Conjury v0.3.0


Hey all. It's been a few weeks since the last update and this one ended up being a lot bigger than anticipated. But hopefully all worth it.

This update marks a big change in gameplay. Each level is no longer a single battle, but a map tree that you'll have to progress through. This allows me to introduce new gameplay elements outside of just battling monsters. Items will no longer be random drops during battle but instead be purchasable from a shop or rewarded to you for certain events.

You can also now upgrade your favourite weapons during your run. They'll receive a random buff that stays with for the whole journey. 

Another big chance is the introduction of runes. Instead of one long battle, each level will now contain 3 shorter battles. At the end of each battle you'll be offered a chance to take a rune. These offer greater rewards, but pro-long the length of your encounter. If you're feeling confident, you can take the challenge and collect more coins for your victory. But if you're close to death, you'll have the opportunity to make an early escape and guarantee safely reaching the next battle.

There's also some quality of life changes and a new soundtrack.

Going forward, the next updates should be shorter and more frequent. They'll be focused more around content rather than gameplay changes. The short time aim now is to add more cards, runes, items, events and fix bugs.

Long term. Now that items aren't something you permanently unlock, the game doesn't have any real progression system. This will something I'll have to address going forward, along with introducing more story elements to give the game a sense of progression and completion.
